tensile resistance wear resistance fatigue resistance corrosion resistance lightness/efficiency CORROSION RESISTANCE : A well-lubricated chain should not corrode. However, we must admit that due to the very nature of the conditions in which they are used, chains are prone to corrosion especially on varied types of terrain despite carrying out regular maintenance. Corrosion of the plates does not look very nice, but the actual mechanical characteristics of the chain are not impaired unless the plates are very badly corroded. On the other hand, corrosion of the articulation itself is more critical because it can result in serious damage to the whole chain. SEDIS offers 3 solutions to this problem: 1 )To prevent corrosion of the plates: SEDIS chains undergo anti-corrosion surface treatment. 2 )To prevent corrosion of the articulations: chemically inert chromium carbide is applied as part of the DELTA treatment. 3 ) Chains are lubricated by immersing them at high temperatures in a wax-like substance developed especially by SEDIS. As well as possessing anticorrosive properties, this substance is an extremely powerful lubricant that adheres well to the articulations. |
